Top Sailing Schools, Instructors Chosen
American Sailing Association awards to 12 instructors and four sailing schools
The winners of the 18th annual Sailing School of the Year awards are New Jersey Sailing School of Point Pleasant, N.J., for the Northeast region; Blue Water Sailing School of Fort Lauderdale for the Southeast; Lighthouse Landing of Grand Rivers, Ky., Central region; and Harbor Sailboats of San Diego, West.
The schools and instructors are evaluated by their students, who send their responses directly to ASA.
Winners of the ASA/Stormy Seas/Weems & Plath instructor awards are:
West - Michael Rice of Puget Sound Sailing Institute in Tacoma, Wash.; Robert Morgan of Sea Mist Skippers of MDR, Marina del Rey, Calif.; and Lee Pearce of Learn to Sail San Diego.
Southeast - Richard Neilson and Ted Wheeler of Blue Water Sailing School in Fort Lauderdale, and Charley Weaver, Windward Sailing School, Fernandina Beach, Fla.
Northeast - Keith Jackson and Chris Winter of New Jersey Sailing School in Point Pleasant, and Zander Lassen of Manhattan Sailing School in New York City.
Central - Steve Lineberry of Lighthouse Landing; Ben Sells, Fairwind Sail Charters, Chicago; and Tommy Williams, Windward Sea Venture, Kemah, Texas.
